Leila’s Village Project

The greatest part as a photographer has been during times of least profit.

That might make you go, “HUH?!” But truly, I have found that when you give back to the people who have just truly suffered, lost a life or even been lost, genuinely love whatever you help them with.

I will never tell you that running a profitable business with your photography is a bad idea. In fact, it’s often a very good idea! However, I do believe that when we enjoy the idea of “giving back” with our photography, it gives us a chance to allow our hearts to breathe and feel positive again.

This program was started in honor of losing my oldest daughter Leila, she was the most beautiful bright light in this dark world of ours. She’s the reason I started this project, honestly, she’s the reason I started this business. She was the most caring and supportive person, and I want to celebrate her by kicking off this project. I want to live like she did.

As creatives we are made to have our hearts easily stirred. When we are only focused on transactions or self-centered pursuits, we do not allow ourselves to feel. It’s the emotion of any given scene that helps us to create memorable imagery and we need to be sure to be open to that as we use our cameras.

These sessions are given back to people who have recovered from life. examples include losing spouses, children, siblings. People who have recovered from substance/ alcohol abuse and are regaining life back with their children. People who fought cancer or other life-threatening illnesses & people just absolutely down on luck and want a chance to capture their world and how beautiful they have it.

During these sessions there is an open pantry with toiletries & many other items to help the families that come & volunteers to help assist the families.
